Description according to the poet Ibn Zaidun Al-Andalusi: A thematic study

Abstract

This study aims to reveal various dimension of description which appeared in the poetry of prominent Andalusian Poet “Ibn Zaidun” (1003-1071). He was a distinguished figure and well-known personality in the Andalusian Arabic Poetry. He played significant roll to uphold the prestige of Arabic Poetry in external part of its homeland by developing poetic multipurpose side, particularly stylistic and subjective viewpoint. In the subjective side the description is the more important topic in which Ibn Zaidun showed his charismatic poetic genius. He focused his imagination and emotion in this point on based of his genuine consideration with very skillfulness. This article tries to clarify the characteristics of this poet's descriptive poetic geniality and various dimension of description in his poetry depending on explaining his poems organized in this context.
